I am glad to support this place and I wish that more people would recognize it as the gem that it is. I have season passes and have seen how many new animals they have added and all the work they have done to improve the park overall. It thrives because it is a wonderful family day for everyone, away from the beaches that draw them all here. ![]() I realize that to some this place can't compete with a "National Zoo" but that's not why it succeeds. Not to mention the lack of trash everywhere. at Gulf Breeze there are multiple friendly staff who actually answer your questions, and knowledgeable keepers who give educational talks every single day. Audubon doesn't even seem to have keepers or grounds staff because I saw no one but interns. After all this Zoo is a private one and considering that they are still open after the closing and change of ownership some years back, I'd say they are doing much better. I have been to Zoo Atlanta and the Audubon in New Orleans (both municipally funded non-profit facilities) just in the last 2 years and their ticket prices are 4-8 dollars more for admission so the price complaints seem bit misplaced. ![]() I fell in love with it back then and it was not even half the facility it is now. I remember first seeing the place as a child having never been to another zoo. The truth is this Zoo had struggled for years due to what seems like some good ideas gone wrong. I see a lot of mixed reviews from some very opinionated people who don't even have their facts right. A real Zoo, and right in the middle of prime vacation territory.I have lived midway between Gulf Breeze and Navarre since 1983 the year this Zoo broke ground. In a world of disappointing road side attractions like the Sasquatch "Zoo" that I don't think exists anymore, you actually get what you pay for at Gulf Breeze. ![]() I have lived midway between Gulf Breeze and Navarre since 1983 the year this Zoo broke ground.
